Some “I’s” matter more
I want to ride my bicycle, sang Freddie.
A bike race sounds fun, but I also would like it to be warm enough to ride my motorcycle.
I want to own my own home again sometime soon.
I want to be successful and prosperous.
I want to hike tall mountains, run long distances, and be known for doing hard things.
Life can be so full of “I’s”.
Yet, when I am looking into the joyful eyes of my sons, I become aware that some “eyes” mean so much more.
My grandfather’s eyes filled with the history that created who I am.
My grandmother’s eyes that redeem art and beauty from things abandoned.
The lonely eyes in the nursing home.
The forgotten eyes of the gentleman silently sleeping on the cold city sidewalk.
The hungry eyes of kids in broken places around the world.
My friends, do not be so caught up in your own “I’s” that you miss looking into someone else’s “eyes”.
Coldest Night of the Year
It is so cold right now! There are many forgotten in our communities struggling with hurt, hunger, and homelessness. Luckily, there are community organizations like the Marysville Hope Center that seek to find and remember and aide those most impacted.
There is an event called coldest night of the year happening this Saturday. Would you be willing to donate to the cause? The link below goes to a team page captained by my sister, Emma. Any size donation matters. Thanks for your help!
