I published my first book!

I published my first book!

I am so excited to officially announce the publishing of my first book, Simplicity as a Pathway to Rest.

Writing has always been a sanctuary for me. I remember growing up writing short stories and poetry as a way to process my thoughts. In Urbana, I wrote a daily devotional that would go out by text. I began writing this newsletter as a place where I could workshop and share ideas that I felt were and are important for us to live well in church and in community. This book on simplicity is the next step in a writing journey, and one I am so excited about.

Simplicity was a book I actually started several years ago during a time of being deeply unsettled. I had gotten to a place where, in my attempt to produce something great, I actually was fracturing my life. I was out of step with God, with His will and calling on my life, and I needed a reset. I needed to repent, to turn away from my busyness and self-reliance and instead seek the presence of God.

By my own doing, I had taken on a yoke that was not fit for me. My soul cried out for simplicity.

The book details some of the areas in life that are most impacted by instituting a practice of simplicity. I wrote from a place of observation. As I experienced an intentional walk with Christ, focusing on his simple Way, his easy yoke, I found rest from many of the things that were burdening me. I cannot say that I do it right all the time. But the things I write within the book have been helpful thoughts in becoming a person of rest.

I hope you consider giving the book a read, and if you do, let me know what you think!
