Creating your own Department of Personal Efficiency

D.O.G.E to D.O.P.E
The Department of Governmental Efficiency (DOGE) is a radical movement (radically good or bad?) that aims to remove what is deemed as excess from the extremely large federal budget. Led by Elon Musk and some young engineers, the group looks to eliminate “waste, fraud, and abuse” within the government.
I have personal feelings on this movement, things I would gladly share with you personally but will not include in this post.
The truth is, I try my best to not allow these sorts of big-picture events impact my emotions, for better or worse. Things that happen in the government are often far beyond my control. I can vote. After that, most of the influence I have is over my own life, my family, and my community.
But I do let these moments inspire me, and this movement is inspiring.
What if we instituted our own personal form of DOGE; the Department of Personal Efficiency?
Instead of being offended by DOGE, or overjoyed and overly focused on everything DOGE is doing, what if you spent that same time and emotion on cutting the “waste, fraud, and abuse” you’ve allowed to build in your own life?
The wasted time spent on dopamine distractions like social media.
Defrauding yourself by telling yourself that you are one way when you live another.
Abusing yourself through deception, lying to yourself and others about who you are, masking the parts of ourselves that are too difficult for us to face.
How much time has passed because we refused to discipline ourselves?
How many lies have we told to keep an image of ourselves that we hardly enjoy?
How much pain have we experienced, and freedom lost, because we have refused to have the hard conversations with ourselves and the people around us?
It may be that, if the government needs an audit, how much more of an honest audit do we need to have with ourselves?
If you liked this post, or you feel like it would start a good conversation, please share this with your friends and ask them to subscribe.
It would help me a lot. Thanks for reading!
